Senior Consultant

REPORTING TO

EHS&S Team Associate/ Unit Director

QUALIFICATIONS

 

▲   Bachelor science or H&S degree and preferably a secondary qualification such as MSc.

▲   NEBOSH National General Certificate as a minimum and ideally working towards, or with, a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational H&S.

▲   Desirable to be a Member of Professional Body (IOSH /IEMA) and working towards eventual Chartered Status.

▲   Additional ergonomics and fire risk assessment training (beyond that included in the above) would be an advantage.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

 

▲   Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience to lead on project delivery work.

▲   A notable track record in industry/consulting.

▲   Excellent working knowledge of EH&S regulations.

▲   EHS auditing experience ideally across a range of sectors and high/lower risk environments.

▲   Wide range of knowledge of different risk assessment types.

▲   Confident and effective communicator with excellent presentation and briefing skills.

▲   Ability to work with people at all levels, to persuade and encourage.

▲   Proven track record in understanding and building core relationships to ensure success.

▲   Excellent written and communication skills.

▲   A good self-manager of time and work, with ability to work as a team player and have good communication skills to help assure both external and internal relationships.

▲   A positive professional persona with a good sense of humour.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

▲   Report to and support EHS&S Leadership Team on successful delivery of the business plan/financial targets for EHS.

▲   Effectively communicate and deliver on each project brief through provision of efficient and professional services.

▲   Provide solutions/recommendations to effectively manage identified EHS needs and the delivery of technical reports/documentation as determined for each client including: EHS legal compliance audits, risk assessments and management systems, the preparation and ongoing maintenance of legal registers, EHS policies and procedures as well as EHS training and ergonomic assessments/ case management.

▲   Contribute to the achievement of Company objectives through positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers.

▲   Lead by example and share both knowledge and experience with other team members.

Project briefs, deadlines and resources

▲   To generally produce written documents, such as reports, letters and emails, that are articulate, grammatically correct, clear and concise and technically correct. Guidance is to be sought when needed.

▲   Is able to source and organise information but sometimes needs guidance to organise it in a way that makes it easily understandable.

 

Use of IT

▲   Is able to understand the applications of word processing software and is able to demonstrate a degree of numeracy that is appropriate for the level of data management required.

▲   Able to optimise the use of the software to present information in a professional and comprehensible manner.
